Acquittal Comes After Two Hours Of Deliberation

Jury acquits truck driver in crash that killed 7 motorcyclists

Acquittal comes after two hours of deliberation

Last rider in group of Marine motorcycle club members testifies he saw a ball of fire

A jury on Tuesday acquitted a commercial truck driver of causing the deaths of seven motorcyclists in a crash in New Hampshire last year.

The jury deliberated for about two hours before finding Volodymyr Zhukovskyy not guilty of seven counts of negligent homicide. Zhukovskyy was driving a pickup truck that collided with a group of 10 motorcyclists in Randolph, New Hampshire, on June 21, 2019. Seven of the motorcyclists were killed in the crash.

The prosecution argued that Zhukovskyy was driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. However, the defense argued that Zhukovskyy was not impaired and that the crash was caused by one of the motorcyclists, who they said was driving recklessly.

The last rider in the group of motorcyclists, Michael Ferazzi, testified that he saw a ball of fire after the crash. He said he did not see Zhukovskyy's truck before the crash.

Zhukovskyy's acquittal is a major victory for the defense. The prosecution had sought a prison sentence of up to 21 years.
