Tigers Designate Josh Lester For Assignment

The Tigers have designated right-handed pitcher Josh Lester for assignment. Lester, 39, was 0-2 with a 5.03 ERA in three starts for Detroit this season.

Lester was signed to a one-year, $6 million contract in February. He was expected to be a key part of the Tigers' rotation, but he struggled in his three starts.

The Tigers now have 10 days to trade Lester or release him.

Tigers Recall Kody Clemens From Toledo

The Tigers have recalled right-handed pitcher Kody Clemens from Triple-A Toledo. Clemens, 26, will start Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Clemens has a 3.60 ERA in 10 starts for Toledo this season. He has struck out 56 batters in 50 innings.

Clemens is the son of former Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens.

Tigers Place Austin Meadows On Injured List

The Tigers have placed outfielder Austin Meadows on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Meadows, 27, is batting .287 with four home runs and 19 RBIs in 63 games for the Tigers this season.

The Tigers now have two outfielders on the injured list, Meadows and Robbie Grossman.

Tigers Activate Matt Manning From Injured List

The Tigers have activated right-handed pitcher Matt Manning from the 10-day injured list.

Manning, 24, was placed on the injured list on August 19 with a right shoulder impingement.

Manning is 1-2 with a 6.24 ERA in seven starts for the Tigers this season.
