Rangers Set to Sign Defender as Koppen Strikes Deadline Day Deal
Scottish giants close to capturing £1.25m full-back
Rangers are reportedly closing in on the signing of defender Nils Koppen, with the Dutchman set to join the Scottish giants on a deadline day swoop.
Koppen to bolster Van Bronckhorst's squad
Koppen, 22, is a versatile defender who can play at both right-back and center-back. He has been a key player for Vitesse in the Eredivisie, making 18 appearances this season.
His performances have attracted the attention of Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who is keen to add depth to his squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.
Deal worth £1.25m
According to reports, Rangers have agreed a fee of £1.25m with Vitesse for Koppen. The player is expected to undergo a medical in Glasgow on deadline day.
Koppen excited about move
Koppen is said to be excited about the prospect of joining Rangers. He has previously spoken of his admiration for the club and its fans.
"I know Rangers is a big club with a lot of history," Koppen said. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to play for them."
Rangers strengthen defensive options
The signing of Koppen will provide Rangers with much-needed cover at the back. The Scottish champions have been short of options in defense this season, with Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun both struggling with injuries.
Koppen's arrival will give Van Bronckhorst more flexibility in his selection, and he could be in line to make his debut against Motherwell on Wednesday.
