Salem Co, NJ: Two Cyclists Fatally Struck in Auburn Rd Crash

Two lives were tragically lost in Salem County, NJ, after a devastating crash involving a pickup truck and two bicyclists.

The tragic incident occurred on Auburn Road in Pilesgrove Township on Monday evening around 6:15 p.m.

According to authorities, the cyclists, identified as 43-year-old Jason C. Berry of Elmer and 34-year-old William T. Holmes of Clayton, were riding side-by-side when a 2012 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old man from Monroeville struck them from behind.

The cyclists were pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel, leaving behind distraught family and friends.

The pickup truck driver remained at the scene of the crash and was fully cooperative with the investigation.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash but are urging any witnesses to come forward with information.

As the investigation continues, the community grieves the loss of two beloved members and calls for increased safety measures on Auburn Road, a known area for cyclist traffic.
